With the UK in the clutch of winter storms many of us have resorted to spending days tucked up indoors in cosy lounge wear with the heating on thanks to the bluster and battering rain outside.

It’s also the time when one of Guildford’s most notable boiler installation companies is at their busiest with installations and maintenance calls seeing the team from Premier Heating visiting many homes locally. Whilst the company are busy keeping people’s homes warm, they have also opted to donate some of the rewards of their hard work to us at Cherry Trees.

Inspired by our recent ask of donations for £38 to provide integral specialized one to one care to enable a child to visit Cherry Trees, Premier Heating pledged to donate £38 from each and every boiler installation to our charity. So far over £600 has been raised since January with money pledged for each month this year.

Premier Heating Managing Director Keith Richards said of his decision to donate “we have supported other charities in the past, but on reflection realized we wanted to do something much more local. The donation of £38 per boiler is something we can afford as a company which doesn’t impact our customers. It’s also their fortieth year and we wanted do something for them.”

For Keith the decision to support Cherry Trees is a personal one, knowing himself the difference a respite break given to a young person with a disability can make to the whole family. Cherry Trees was there for his family, when they stepped in with help caring for his daughter Megan over a period of nine years with overnight stays and outings. In that time Megan benefitted significantly from her time at Cherry Trees, enjoying entertainers, activities sessions, outings to local places, as well as making her own friends. Knowing she was safely cared for at Cherry Trees, it meant the family were able to find some time and rest from caring themselves.

Megan has since gone onto college and whilst the family no longer access the support of Cherry Trees, Keith is keen for his companies’ donations to enable more families to be supported by the East Clandon based charity who care for children and young people with complex disabilities from birth up to 19 years of age.

Recognised locally for our excellence in supporting and caring for children and young people with sensory, learning and physical disabilities, we are trusted by the families who need their help. One of the ways we offer care can be 'one to one', with a dedicated carer to ensure those children who have very complex needs are not only safe and well cared for, but also have fun during their stay.

In 2019 over 12,000 hours of one to one care were provided.

Premier Heating have previously supported Cherry Trees with their staff gallantly getting soaked at the bright and bouncy inflatable assault course challenge that’s ‘It’s A Knockout’. Held annually in Shalford Park Guildford, entries are now open for other companies or groups to sign up to the one day fundraiser. It’s a test of team work over fitness, a willingness to get very wet and soapy and to raise £1,000 over a team of ten people. Entries can be made HERE.
