Cherry Trees is a respite centre for children with disabilities. They were without doubt the best source of help for me when things got hard. They are a small charity operating from just one building in the Surrey countryside. In that building, magical things happen: ten bedrooms, a kitchen and dining room, indoor and outdoor play areas, and a small office and staff room upstairs. I value their common sense and that they don't get wrapped up in bureaucracy and red tape. Their small size means that we can clearly see how they use the money I hope to raise: a party tea for the children, a trip out in the minibus, one extra night's stay for a family in difficulty.
