Will 2020 be the year you achieve the fitness goal you've always wanted ? Why not make this the year you take on The Virgin Money London Marathon, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 or Swim Serpentine signing up for a charity place with us and raise money for a much needed children's charity, as well as earn yourself the title of a London Classics medal holder ?
Cherry Trees is here for children with disabilities and their families and we need people to be there for us this year by running, cycling and swimming. If you are willing to challenge yourself to reach outside your comfort zone, supporting us with fundraising means we can keep families together and stop children with disabilities being taken into care through our specialist respite breaks. When a child comes to Cherry Trees their families can have a break from caring for a few hours whilst we step in with tea-time visits and over night stays, outings and activities.
Our challenge fundraisers help us raise thousands of pounds and this year we have confirmed charity spaces in The Virgin Money London Marathon, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 and hope to have places in the Swim Serpentine event (details to be confirmed and announced later in 2020).
Signing up to take on a charity challenge place, saying yes to being #cherryactive will mean you are offered tips and ideas to help you with your fundraising, training tips and (where appropriate and possible) group fitness training sessions as well as the chance to visit the charity to see the cause you are raising money for. You'll also get one of our snazzy #cherryactive vests with Cherries cheery face on it which is very distinctive to all the other vests!
What is the London Classics Medal ?
Launched in 2017 it's a chance for finishers of The Virgin Money London Marathon, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 and Swim Serpentine (2 mile distance) to earn a fourth medal marking their achievments. Those that complete all three events will be given a special medal, photo opportunities at their third and final event and have their name added to a hall of fame.
There is no time limit or order for when you have to do the trio of events which means you can do them over time or over the course of a year if you want to!
More details can be found HERE about the medal and how it works.
CHARITY SPACES NOW AVAILABLE! Sign-up today to swim for Cherry Trees in a one-day open water swimming festival staged in the heart of London at Hyde Park’s famous Serpentine Lake. It's one of the trio of events that makes up the London Classics medal challenge series and is part of the 2012 Olympic legacy in it's setting and promotion of sports for all.
**** CHALLENGE EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS. We will share any updates on marking the weekend of the 15th, 16th of August and when known, any plans re:2021 should an event be possible.****
