We are delighted to share that Cherry Trees has been awarded Outstanding by Ofsted for the fourth year in a row.

Our home in East Clandon was given the top possible rating by inspectors who said children “blossom” during their stays with us, reflecting our ethos of ‘Child First Disability Second’.

Cherry Trees is one of just a small number of respite homes that will receive this judgement, with only 12% of all children’s homes in England receiving Outstanding in the financial year ending March 2025.

This achievement is testament to the incredible dedication of our staff, who work incredibly hard every day to provide gold-standard care and maintain this level of excellence.

The Ofsted team visited us unannounced for two days last month, and their report is glowing in its praise for the way in which our team put the children at the heart of everything we do.

Here are some extracts from their report:

“Children’s voices are at the core of their care. Staff understand children’s wishes and feelings and ensure that these are acted upon.”

“Staff have formed nurturing relationships with the children. Children are happy and animated when they come to stay; they receive well-planned care and enjoy the activities.”

“Staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that each child can engage in activities, by ensure they are inclusive for all.”

“The registered manager goes above and beyond to support the needs of children and their families.”

We are so proud of what we achieve as a charity to support the children with complex disabilities who need us most, and this fourth Outstanding rating is such an honour.

We are incredibly grateful to have the support of our families and the wider community - without whom we simply couldn’t do what we do. In fact, the inspectors note in their report that “the home continues to receive support from the local community to enable them to provide positive events”.

Thank you to everyone who has shared our journey with us. We are now looking forward to forging further partnerships with the local community in Hampshire and setting our new second home, Cherry Trees – Goldcrest Lodge, on the road to Outstanding too.
