How to access our respite services

Cherry Trees accepts enquiries from parents, carers, social workers or other professionals.

Parents do not need to have a social worker to access Cherry Trees. If we feel that we can meet a young person's needs and the family feel that Cherry Trees is the right for them,  we hope to offer some respite hours.

We encourage all new parents and carers to get in touch in the first instance and arrange an informal first visit. Following this visit we ask for an application form to be completed. Once we have received the form, we can discuss and assess how we can meet your child's needs.

Hopefully we can then arrange a visit for your child to come and see Cherry Trees and enjoy getting to know and all the fun things to do here.

Please get in touch with Paula Rankin, our Head of Care on 01483 222506 or [email protected]

Melody's story

‘Because we were home schooling our son Leo for several years we didn’t fit into ‘the system’ as such. We had no school, no social worker and we were worried there would be no hope for us. I was at a place of burn-out and so decided to just pick up the phone and see what they could do.

They didn’t turn me away, they were open to hearing about our family and over the phone I just got a sense of them being really keen for me to come in. All they wanted to do was help me.

Mum and son, Melody and Leo, happy they found us!

I remember the first time I visited Cherry Trees, I saw the Telly Tubbies Hill and the big Cherry Trees sign and I knew everything was going to be okay. It’s the only place I want for my child to be in the summer holidays. He is settled there and loves it.’ Melody, parent.

Every donation, no matter how small or large, makes a difference to families who need respite care for a child with complex disabilities. Your donation helps to keep families together. Thank you so much for your support. You may also, if you wish, choose to add the cost of the bank transaction fee to your donation. This is 0.9% of your donation amount, up to a maximum of £2.00 and means that our costs are reduced, with more money available for our charitable activities. Thank you.
